Sadly any sort of insurrection here would lead to mass starvation if there wasn't any nations backing a breakaway Alaska, we're just too reliant on the importation of food via barges for any sort of separatism.
You're right, though Taiwan is only something like 31% food self sufficient so even though it's a terrible idea it doesn't stop people from trying.
Also, I wonder if Putin would ship food across the Bering Straight just because.
I don't know if Vladivostok is self-sufficient enough to do that or if they have to get their supplies railed in as well
