German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday promised a full investigation after what appeared to be a recording of confidential army talks on the Ukraine war was posted on Russian social media, in a potentially huge embarrassment for Berlin.

The Bundeswehr has an encrypted messenger that is capable of conference calls.

It's based on matrix/Element.

No idea why they decided not to use it.

Because the radios installed in the tanks and stuff is still (encrypted) analogue radio.

They planned to replace that afaik but last I read was that it's still in use and expected to be phased out next year
