Its for the adjective - autumnal - not pronounced when not an adjective. The other seasons have Springlike, Summery, Wintry. Why not an N?
I've never in my life heard Autumnal and I'm sad that Springlike isn't Springy.

What do the Americans say? Fally? Fallish? Fallesque?
