Am in a Discord Server for local trans ppl, and they are complaining about "Tankies" (they mean the local Trots). Gave some pushback, but was nice about it. One person said that she is a "liberal democratic socalist". Didn't know that this discourse existed IRL.
Update: Was accused of "relativising hundresd of million dead" after saying one should have a nuanced view of the USSR.
Didn't get better after that,should have disengaged at that point. Now I don't know if I actually am welcome on that server anymore.
I'm sorry that you had to find out that u were in a NATO discord guild. Liberalism + trans people is not something I ever want to experience again.
Eh, the person who wrote the "gorillion dead" thing is actually active in the local "left autonomous" scene. It's the take of someone who does praxis, which is why I was extra shocked to hear those takes from someone who calls themselves a comrade.
The western left is deeply troubled.
My marxist spanish professor who specializes in indigenous issues and latam sees China as an imperialist-capitalist power.
It hurts when its the people you most respect, which is why I try to be as obvious with my own views from the get go so they filter out or actually strike up a constructive convo with me.
