The mood on this feels ambiguous.

How do you all perceive the mood of this work? Optimistic? Pessimistic? Peaceful? Melancholy?

It’s curious bc I initially saw it as pleasant, like everything is clean and orderly and it looks like he has a peaceful desk with a view.

Then when I looked more, it seemed isolating and barren, like he’s trapped there and wants to be outside. There is no personality to his building, it is blank and has no contents, while the other buildings are relatively full of character.

It's funny interpreting this one from a 1953 perspective vs a 2024 perspective. In 2024 I'm like "at least he isn't sitting in an open plan office next to 40 other people"
