This is basically just the 21st century version of George Washington and the founding fathers, right?

isn't this basically what they did, just be super rich within a system controlled by others (brits and/or the US government), and then use their money to garner massive support and eventually fight a war against those others (we haven't reached this point in the analogy yet)
