Do you think that Final Fantasy X would count as tidalpunk? The world has a strong connection with water and for the most part its people seem to live in peace with nature (if you don't count monsters).

Also, can you recommend me anything you'd consider tidalpunk? Games, books, shows, whatever.

Most books by Paolo Bacigalupi would fit your bill. Tried the Windup Girl series? Also the short story collection Pump Six.

Also there's a book called Crisis on Conshelf Ten by Monica Hughes, aimed at young adults but also fits the aesthetic you're after.

Also Sunless Seas (game) and the Fallen London website/game. Heaps of excellent prose, often devoted to steampunk/dieselpunk/otherpunk ideas.

Sunless Skies is a bit neater than Seas with the same gameplay but is set in an alternate future space with, uh, flying trains.
