Most books by Paolo Bacigalupi would fit your bill. Tried the Windup Girl series? Also the short story collection Pump Six.
Also there's a book called Crisis on Conshelf Ten by Monica Hughes, aimed at young adults but also fits the aesthetic you're after.
Also Sunless Seas (game) and the Fallen London website/game. Heaps of excellent prose, often devoted to steampunk/dieselpunk/otherpunk ideas.
Sunless Skies is a bit neater than Seas with the same gameplay but is set in an alternate future space with, uh, flying trains.
