Even if you are too lazy to check, can’t they/them be used when in doubt and cause much less grief?

If I’m wrong here, I’m sorry. I don’t mean any offense, I just assume not gendering was a safe move when you are unsure.

The incident in question occurred when someone (a programming.dev admin, specifically), whose client hides the pronouns, used 'they' to refer to a user with she/her pronouns.

Aaaah okay, then my apologies for the ignorant take. Wasn’t aware of the full scope of the incident.

I run into the same thing because of the app I use to connect to Hexbear on mobile, but I would accept being corrected and move on using the preferred pronouns. It’s not that hard.

this is 100% fine and there'd be no hard feelings if that had happened, but instead the admin in question whipped out the ol' "getting offended is a bad look!!" card instead
