The Palmer Raids were a series of raids conducted in November 1919 and January 1920 by the United States Department of Justice under the administration of President Woodrow Wilson to capture and arrest suspected socialists, especially anarchists and communists, and deport them from the United States. The raids particularly targeted Italian immigrants and Eastern European Jewish immigrants with alleged leftist ties, with particular focus on Italian anarchists and immigrant leftist labor activists. The raids and arrests occurred under the leadership of Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer, with 6,000 people arrested across 36 cities. Though 556 foreign citizens were deported, including a number of prominent leftist leaders, Palmer's efforts were largely frustrated by officials at the U.S. Department of Labor, which had authority for deportations and objected to Palmer's methods.
The Palmer Raids occurred in the larger context of the First Red Scare, a period of fear of and reaction against communists in the U.S. in the years immediately following World War I and the Russian Revolution. There were strikes that garnered national attention, and prompted race riots in more than 30 cities, as well as two sets of bombings in April and June 1919, including one bomb mailed to Palmer's home.
Between November 1919 and January 2020, Palmer’s agents deported nearly 250 people, including notable anarchist Emma Goldman, and arrested nearly 10,000 people in seventy cities.

I disagree entirely, most principled Marxist orgs out here in the Amerikkka hellscape are just cosplaying Sisyphus, while anarchists are actually like… helping people and agitating at the same time. What the fuck happened to the Black Panther’s perspective on the “propaganda of the deed”? Did everyone who suggested it in PSL get suicided by feds for being too cool?
I can’t imagine being the person told to go kill someone for daring to suggest giving food to people. The cops that raided the Black Panthers should have been tried at the Hague.
We need a principled internationalist left-Unity party which formally includes a Food Not Bombs caucus or something, anything except this weird electoral hellscape

Isn’t that what we already have? I don’t think the movement Lenin took part in was successful because Lenin had an anime training montage hard enough. Being a professional is a series of qualifications, like knowing theory and organizing, not some sort of anime power level matchup, right? I only skimmed the article, so take any complaints about the PSL (who I support) with a whole crystal of salt (yes I am doing the “say the wrong thing on the internet to get the right answer” thing

I have this problem with marxist orgs just not doing shit. I have to just do volunteering myself. Its fun and i can talk about how cool i am, but is very lonely. Also much harder to talk about marxism with a bunch of libs alone.
But then again i recently found a marxist leninist organization that does a lot of political agitation, so lets see where that goes.

you know your 100% right when it comes to food not bombs. i was thinking of some other anarchist i used to work with, that used to work on community gardens, and idk it just felt like we were wasting time. like if i took the amount of time i spent to grow these cucumbers and worked i could buy MORE cucumbers for very cheap. and i tried looking into it and it doesnt seem like small community gardens are reliable nutrition sources. it was REALLY fun though, gardening, and everyone there was super nice and we talked bout our trauma from capitalism. they also used to like, practice escaping from the police in case slave catching patrols came back. like they think fascism is 5 years away and we getting enslaved again. but hey coordinating how to smuggle black people away from the cops is always a good practice probably. they also did a lot of spiritual healing stuff and yeah i guess thats important for some people.
That anarchist org sounds… weird, but cool to be at. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of one doing that before but I can definitely understand your attitude coming from that experience
Depends, I know of communist orgs and related unions that also do volunteer work, especially after natural disasters. It also helps that a big org with lots of people and financial support will have a greater ability to do large scale actions. I get what you're saying though, it would be nice if there was a stronger focus on volunteer work like cooking free food for people and stuff, it's a common thing that communist orgs focus much more on raising class consciousness, empowering unions, protesting about things etc.
