If you can, get it at gog.com. it's on sale there for $52.98 CAD vs $71.99 CAD on steam (that's with the 10% off deal).

Maybe you were looking at the GOG page for the Deluxe edition? The Deluxe edition of BG3 is almost the same price as the base BG3 on steam.
