Lenin was affiliated with the Assassins, so really I think it's just real "If evil dictator Stalin hadn't forcibly taken over from Lenin then the USSR might have been a much better country and less of the International Community would have hated them for being a totalitarian fascist communist state" energy, which is obviously nonsense, Lenin was despised in his day by the international bourgeoisie and I can't imagine he would have taken a substantially different economic course than Stalin in response to rising fascism in Germany

I enjoy the games and the lore is fairly intriguing, I admit that I'm a sucker for alternative history that treats it in broad, imaginative sweeps (as opposed to more specific events like "What if Pearl Harbour never happened" or "What if Napoleon was never born") but how big, even somewhat controversial characters are depicted inside the games is pretty much consistently bad because, well, it's liberals writing their characters for the most part. Marx is a famous example of how their rough edges get sandpapered off. My knowledge of the early American figures like Ben Franklin and Washington is pretty spotty because I just don't give a shit about early American history but I have to imagine that they don't constantly talk about their flaws in Assassin's Creed 3. Or if they do it's in a very safe way so that liberals can just go "Well, there's nuance here..." and not have to disown them or anything
