America is genocidal, sure, but so is every single other society in the history of civilization. America is exceptional because of the technology and the art it contributed to genocide, which is the goal of every civiliztion, remember. Pointing out the difference in scale of US atrocities just prevents us working together for greater justice.

let's not start another war

Who said anything about starting a war?

Her descriptions of the camp in Xinyuan county - known in Uighur as Kunes county - match satellite imagery analysed by the BBC, and her descriptions of daily life inside the camp, as well as the nature and methods of the abuse, correspond with other accounts from former detainees.

[...]

"This confirms the very worst of what we have heard before," he said. "It provides authoritative and detailed evidence of sexual abuse and torture at a level clearly greater than what we had assumed."

[...]

One day, Sedik cautiously approached a Chinese camp policewoman she knew.

"I asked her, 'I have been hearing some terrible stories about rape, do you know about it?' She said we should talk in the courtyard during lunch.

"So I went to the courtyard, where there were not many cameras. She said, 'Yes, the rape has become a culture. It is gang rape and the Chinese police not only rape them but also electrocute them. They are subject to horrific torture.'"

[...]

Another teacher forced to work in the camps, Sayragul Sauytbay, told the BBC that "rape was common" and the guards "picked the girls and young women they wanted and took them away".

She described witnessing a harrowing public gang rape of a woman of just 20 or 21, who was brought before about 100 other detainees to make a forced confession.

This is not the testimony of a single person. In this article there are several accounts from direct witnesses. There is a lot of corroborating information. There is a mountain of evidence.

To dismiss the accounts of the abused as 'hearsay' is to defend the abusers.

Bro the China tribunal is funded by the Falun Gung. That’s like getting your opinion on psychiatrists from a Scientologist.

They were banned from China because they were setting children on fire and the organ harvesting claim is because they believe their organs become perfect due to their meditation techniques which is why the Chinese elite want to harvest them.

It’s Qanon for anti-China libs and you just ate it up and cited it as evidence.

Like… their website doesn’t even work. What important evidence is behind that link that says “undefined”? Top tier shit.

They also believe that race mixing is a sinister alien plot to weaken humanity. Very normal and hinged stuff.

Your "source" is literally funded by a cult known for human trafficking and child abuse, lmao I mean talk about ironic

You gonna start babbling about all the child eating satanic cults in America next? I mean hey there's a "mountain of accounts" about that stuff so it must be true right?

Who said anything about starting a war?

Look at the gears turning in Taiwan and the South China Sea

This is not the testimony of a single person.

Nevertheless it is only testimony, and there is a history of fake testimony to justify US foreign policy

In this article there are several accounts from direct witnesses.

The BBC article gives unfalsifiable testimony from three named witnesses, one anonymous guard, and a chime-in from notorious bullshitter Adrian Zenz

There is a lot of corroborating information

Overhead pictures of camps — no one is disputing there are camps — and a small number of unfalsifiable witness accounts

There is a mountain of evidence

Falun Gong site with a list of unfalsifiable witness accounts that are just text and a name, with no pictures

there's a whole Zenz rabbit hole but I'm going to sleep, here are two examples

Who said anything about starting a war?

Rarely does anyone come out and just SAY it, they spread a bunch of atrocity propaganda to make conditions in the country look so bad that people start thinking a war would be preferable to the status quo. It's the natural implication of spreading this kind of misinformation.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

Just like Gaddafi's Viagra Army, right?

[–] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 52 points 2 years ago

Not even the maximalist version of the Xinjiang China bad story involves genocide - read the UN OHCHR report on it https://www.ohchr.org/en/documents/country-reports/ohchr-assessment-human-rights-concerns-xinjiang-uyghur-autonomous-region

Whataboutism? What about deez nuts?

[–] KarlBarqs@hexbear.net 33 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Remember that the claims of genocide are from a man who believes that he received a message from capital G God himself to destroy China, and that the initial claims to genocide were based on him sending someone to Xinjiang, going to eight tiny rural villages, and asking a single person in each village how many people they thought were taken away to be reeducated, before extrapolating that number to the entirety of Xinjiang.

It's a methodology so bafflingly bad it wouldn't be accepted anywhere academically, but for some reason you "uhhh citations please??" dorks fucking eat it up.

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

As far as I remember no one actually traveled to those eight villages, the interviews were done over telephone lol

[–] combat_brandonism@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

next do the cultural genocide in tibet, because being a feudal theocracy that dismembers serfs is inherent to their culture or something

Trying to sell the "Uyghur genocide" in a post October 7th world is a little crass don't you think?

[–] iie@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

you would expect a massive insurgency in Xinjiang, millions of refugees, footage of atrocities, and Chinese media campaigns to demonize and dehumanize Uyghurs, if there were a genocide ongoing
