Does it engine brake or I suppose it could use modern style brakes had they been around.

Exactly me thought. How would a full emergency break look alike? The man still wheeling inside the wheel?

Basically you can't emergency brake. If you do then you get to do your best impression of a hamster going down a hill.

Honestly I think that is one of the main reasons these never caught on. But yes you can still buy one if you want. They never fully left.
