More like Alan WOKE (I don’t know anything about the games)

The first one and its spinoff are bad so you're not really missing anything.

My first instinct was to push back on the notion of Alan Wake 1 being a bad game, but to be honest, I was disappointed with it even when it came out. The best parts about it are the atmosphere, story and wonderful sense of place the setting has, but the entire game is an unrelentingly linear 7th gen console corridor shooter where you shoot the same 3 enemy types over and over again.

I really wish we lived in an alternate universe where Remedy's original more open world idea for the game worked out

This is exactly how I feel about the game right here. Everything was good except for all the things that make it a game.
