You mention you turn it off. I assume you manually do that? Focus modes allow you to automatically turn off the Always On Display when they are activated. Under your focus settings for the specific Focus Mode, tap on “Add Filter” under Focus Filters and you can customize whether the Always On Display is enabled or disabled when you activate that specific Focus Mode.
