Rookie contracts for Johnson, Suh, and Stafford were vastly different than what they would have gotten today. I think Stafford's first contract was $72M? I think the current 1st overall picks get around $40M. And the total salary cap compared to now is so different that the $72M took up a bigger percentage of the total cap than any 1st overall pick would today. The Lions had that like 3 seasons in a row before the rookie salaries changed. I think something like 25-30% of the total cap went to those 3 players.
