Is there a drastic change between M2 and M1 ? (alien.top)

I'm not sure if it's because of black Friday but M1 is cheaper than M2. It's my first time buying so I don't really know what specs to look into and what is overall best choice to make. I saw on best buy website m2 was like $1,249 but it was ram 8gb. Storage capacity 512gb and screen 13.6 but M1 some where under $950 range or below.

Yes, M2s SSD speeds are dramatically slower. I guess they are like 15% or so faster (in the absolute best case) when it comes CPU and GPU though.
