Dual Sim and Apple Ecosystem (alien.top)

iPhone has software features to manage Dual Sim, such as the contacts using a preferred phone number or messages showing which phone number is being used to converse.

My question is how is Dual Sim managed across devices? iOS, iPadOS, and macOS can all sync messages and phone calls. I don't want to respond to a message from my iPad or Mac and have it be sent from my primary number instead of my secondary number. Apple never really updated Dual Sim after releasing it. It feels janky that iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch don't show which phone number is being used to text.

I haven't really checked recently if it still behaves like following but atleast it used to.

When you start a new message conversation it will use the default number set in settings for imessage and this setting has to be set on every device.

When you reply to a message it will use the number or email that the last message was sent from or to on all devices as long as the number or email is activated for imessage in settings on the device (which it should be by default).

I tested this and you are correct. While on iPhone it is super clear which line I am using to respond, on other devices (when Messages in iCloud is on or when syncing is enabled), the previously used number is used to send the message. I still wish macOS, iPadOS, and watchOS made it obvious which line is being used, but it's fine. I will probably just use a separate phone instead of Dual Sim.
