Folk metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal that developed in Europe during the 1990s. As the name suggests, the genre is a fusion of heavy metal with traditional folk music. This includes the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles.

Checking out this community and I hear some pretty cool bands here. I only really followed Eluveitie and know quite a bit from them. I'm interested in checking out lots of others. My particular favorite kinds of metal are power, prog, and symphonic.

Given your stated preferences you should check out Korpiklaani and The Hu.

Both seem very cool. The Hu is particularly fun. Mongolian Throat Singing should be paired with more things.
