Tried many different ways of testing at the Apple Store yesterday and they determined the NFC chip on my 15 PM is dead.

Instead of swapping my iPhone, they said because it was purchased through TMobile, it’ll have to be sent back for repair and they can give me an iPhone X loaner. What a joke! Should I ask the store manager for an exchange?

Honestly this is why I always purchase my iPhone from Apple. Makes things much easier when stuff goes wrong.
