Apple TV Remote (newest gen) stopped controlling volume on sound bar after 3 years. (alien.top)

So I programmed my Apple TV remote, the newest generation one that’s grey and has the siri button on the side, to learn my Sony Soundbar so it can control the volume on that. It’s worked fine for 3 years. Today it stopped. All my other remotes programmed to do volume on the soundbar work fine still. I’ve charged my remote all the way up, I’ve updated Apple TV, and I’ve changed my remote from working the volume on another device and back and it won’t work.

If the remote is 3 years old then it's the second gen Apple TV 4k remote.

The 3rd gen Apple TV 4k remote is USB-C.
