I was told later on there was a ping, but it was edited out, and for everyone else on hexbear, no ping showed up. and in your instance the ping still showed up unedited. since for whatever reason, instances don't always update or stay consistent all around or something. federations are weird but it could've been chalked up to weird federation stuff since no one was gaslighting anyone.
