You can buy your phone from your provider, directly from the manufacturer, or a retail electronics company then pop your old SIM card in the new one. You should also have no problem switching to E-SIM if you prefer to go that way. I haven’t bought one through a carrier since the government required phones to be sold without a carrier lock. I think I’ve had three different phones since the last time I made any changes to my plan. I’ll be hanging on to my $43 /month plan as long as it fits my needs.
