This is horrible capitalist brain worms, but like I have missed or been brutalized by one day of work per month due to insomnia; I can't afford to take the time off. The very few times I have had Adderal available to me, it has been really doable and I just take a bath after work the next day and go to bed before 8 PM and am in great shape the next day.

Of course, I should be able to take time off without repercussion, but that's not the world we live in. One would think Capitalist medicine would work to the benefit of capitalists and renders its workers better able to perform.

Unironically the DEA. For some reason (๐Ÿค”), the DEA sets a quota for the amount of ADHD meds. It's not a research arm or some other branch or anything either, it's people with absolutely no background in public health who have worked as cops for their entire lives.

More generally, every once and a while capitalists try something with loosening drugs as a way to make workers more productive, 'microdosing' is a good example. Usually this gets rolled back because the existing war on drugs systems are just way more funded and powerful. Also a lot of nurses and psychs have been deputized as cops searching for 'drug seeking behavior' and there are some informal incentive structures around it. Finally, the suffering is kinda the point in that it creates a market for OTC cure-alls.

Sorry to be explaining, this shit really sucks and I don't want to be well-actually-ing you. I've been super stressed about this stuff lately because I switched psychs recently and they've been really difficult. (My insurance is really bad.)
