Just curious with the Fields debate. Has there ever been a QB mid-way through their 3rd year or later with so much uncertainty develop into a reliable starting QB? Alex Smith comes to mind but obviously wasn’t good enough to keep his position.

I also think people are panicking with the whole Fields franchise QB or not franchise QB debate. The expectation is very high but also having the possible top pick to select a QB adds to this. If we look at all great successful QBs in the history of the NFL, not one was able to succeed with the same scenarios we have had in the past 3 years. Not enough players to build core team and not the right coaching staff to develop offensive and even defensive. It's what killed Lovie and still until this day, the Bears have never had a QB friendly coaching staff that we can actually say has the experience and track record of developing QBs. That along with other factors have created a huge mess for Bears having a franchise QB.

I'd say wait until the season ends to make a final judgment on Fields. And even then it would probably not be a fair assessment.
