Fortunately, Rheinmetall started a production line for 35 mm Gepard ammunition and has delivered a first batch in September. source

Good news! Hope they can keep up, I think demand will be great and only get greater going forward. 40,000 sounds like a small number given the scale of the conflict, but certainly far better than nothing.
