Didn't Ben Franklin learn Arabic through his own copy of the Quran, or am I thinking of a different guy?
Think that was Jefferson. Supposedly he was big into studying religions, and I seem to remember the first Muslim in Congress being sworn in on the same Quran.
It was Rashida Tlaib, but I think it's an english translation of the Quran!

Apparently the Jefferson Qu'ran thing came later and he was sworn in using a "regular" Qu'ran.
Apparently he created an edit of the bible that took out all the miracles and just focused on the stuff that could be applied to secular thought.
