For this Friday Movie Night, first up is Martin Scorsese’s much-anticipated epic, Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), a murder mystery set on a Native American reservation in Oklahoma in the 1920s, starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Robert de Niro. Since this is a long film, at 206 minutes, our second feature tonight will be a short one. It’s Petite Maman (2021), a coming-of-age magical-realist tale from Celine Sciamma, otherwise known for Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019). A girl’s grandma dies, and then she bulds a treehouse in the woods with a mysterious other girl who turns out to be her mom as a child. Whoa! Reviews call it akin to a live-action Ghbli film. Okay, that sounds neat. We’ll watch.
