I use Ubuntu server on my RPi 4s to run little ARM64 VMs using iSCSI block devices. It has good virtualization support and is easy to run on a pi. I can live-migrate VMs between two Pi4 VM hypervisors to avoid downtime while apt-patching. Easy and cheap.
