It could be a scam - a very common one - they’ll say it’s stolen , in hopes of a refund , and than they will send you back a fake , or stolen iPhone , and keep the good one

Where did you parents buy this iPhone ? Apple ? A carrier or trusted source ? If it’s from Apple or a carrier or Best Buy etc , and it’s never even been turned on , than there is no possibility that it’s coming up stolen
