We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

Commercial vid checks and uncut recordings from the mid 80s to the late 90s. As a kid MTV was a huge part of my life and alot of that stuff I thought was lost to time and it blows my mind to see some of that again. Especially the animated bumpers during the commercial breaks. Anyone else into this? Where should I be looking for this stuff? Thx

Internet Archive used to have a huge collection. There is still a lot but they had links to some recordings like the first 12 hours when the channel launched and stuff like that. I can't find it now but youtube has this
