Is M2 air capable of running VMs? (alien.top)

I am in market for my first Macbook and currently 15 inch M2 air is the current frontrunner in my list. I have a windows PC at home but it would be useful to sometimes use VMs on the go as I am a computer science student. Is the 16GB and M2 chip capable of running VMs smoothly on M2 Air without overheating?

A 1"core" VPS with 1gb ram can run VMs.
