Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

So, I would love to record every game I play everyday, and store all this gameplay videos so I can look up what I played on a certain day. Now would this even be feasible, or would this require an unrealistic amount of TB's? Also how would I best approach this as in which programs to use, should I decode the video down, how can I do that without too much loss etc.

Thanks in advance for giving your ideas on how to tackle this idea!

Honestly, if you want something that isn't too much of a hassle and just does its thing automatically whenever you launch a game, maybe consider looking into Medal. Whenever you launch a game, it basically starts recording it automatically. When you switch, it switches too. It's nifty and fulfills my purposes personally.

As for storage usage, I'm online a lot (10-hour long sessions of VRChat or Minecraft at a time at least a couple times a week) and it's used <6 TB over the past 3-4 years for me if I recall correctly. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. Manageable amounts either way.

I think I have seen some friends use this to capture gameplay, so maybe this is a good alternative as well! Thank you!
