Am I really that out of touch with apple that I was today years old when I learned about the back logo double tap feature? (alien.top)

I had iphone 6 then switched to Samsung until iPhone 15 pro. Today my friend was telling about double tapping the logo, I was almost angry at him for believing this shit, but apparently it is s thing. When was that implemented? And I almost watch every year’s event, never have I heard Apple mentioning that as a feature, nor anyone on youtube or people I know. What Am I missing here? If I am not missing anything then why Apple is so silent about a feature like this ?
