Interesting that the punishment was so long
Based on this, I am speculating this was a case of him providing insider information to someone else betting on NHL games. I read somewhere (can't find it again) that players are allowed to bet on non NHL games.
Proxy bettor reads to me as someone else betting for him on NHL games, which would be even worse than leaking info.
