Hypothetically, if a colleague has repeatedly demonstrated the utter lack of reading comprehension skills (like pulling the same door labelled "push" for the hundredth time), what job could one suggest for them where this "disability" wouldn't be detrimental?

If someone is oblivious to what's around them, they would be shit at cleaning โ€” missing spots, leaving streaks, etc. Same for garbage collector. Those assholes already have enough problem getting all the trash in the truck and not leaving odds and ends to blow around in the street and yards.

My real advice would actually be to try and work on using his brain, but that might be a lost cause, since OP went straight to "f that, just find me a job that this guy can do and not cause a nuclear hollocaust".
