Its a sad song. Loss, lost love. I dunno. Im too stupid to understand what Blaze was singing about but it pulls at my heart like very few other songs do. Maybe its because he was a drifter, homeless for most of his adult life. He saw places, and people, and things that most just choose to ignore. Im inconsequential here, but parts of my life parallel his. Maybe thats why. Maybe im just a sad sappy fuck. Who knows.

Blaze Foley fuckin rules. Really love "Clay Pigeons" and "Big Cheeseburger and Good French Fries".

Ive been a fan of his for a few years now. Really like his lyrics.

John Prine does Clay Pigeons justice, and im a real big Prine fan, but Blaze Foley seems like he lived the lyrics, whereas Prine was just singing them.

I go thru phases where i listen to Foley a lot. Just binge until i get burnt out, lay off a while, then pick it back up again.

Also a big Prine fan. Got to see him a couple years before he passed. Agree with ya on Clay Pigeons.
