Looks like it's purely industrial design, without any regards to how the electronics are laid out or how much minimum space is needed.

This is probably possible with a large scale manufacturer if you can convince them to make you a custom sized screen. But it will be difficult to get all the electronics to fit unless you go 0201 parts and the absolute tiniest chips (BGA or VQFNs) on a high layer count PCB.

DIY in practice means working on a slightly larger scale and with components that already exist... Not with imagined LCD screens of custom size. We hobbyists aren't Apple, we can't just get other companies to build is a screen of that shape.
