Republicans have picked Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota as their nominee for House speaker as they try for a third time to fill the top leadership position and get Congress back to work.

There's an old saying in Tennessee—I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee—that says, 'Fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me—you can't get fooled again.
