When I was like in 5th grade, I was watching the nightly back to back episodes of the Simpsons. But then suddenly it just cuts to Obama walking down the aisle in his house and announcing the assassination of Osama bin Laden. I know what 9/11 was and who he was, but I literally did not give a fuck. This asshole ruined my episode. And by the time it went back to the show, it was over and the credits were rolling and the night time adult shows were airing.

The government has some mechanisms for taking control of radio and broadcast television. And there's that national alert system for sending push notifications to all phones. It's happened over the decades.
