Stealing SorosFootSoldier's idea from the games forum. I did specifically anime movies for this one, but do what you want - mix of TV, OVAs, Movies, whatever! Throw in tokusatsu, ZZ Gundam, Pingu, or other non-anime? Sure!

I wanted to like Twelve Kingdoms so much, but it never lasted long enough to justify the prolific world building.
Meanwhile, Berserk and Record of Lodoss War gave me the high drama of a fantasy world that I crave without just kinda leaving me hanging in the end.
Also, a special place in my heart is reserved for The Vision of Escaflowne.
Double plus also, a slightly smaller but still not insignificant place for Scrapped Princess.
