Yeah the "thank you for your service" shit is just cringe. Also i think young people are acutely aware that signing up just means dying for no particular reason. Joking about the US invading for oil is a staple for anyone under 30 and the only people i know that signed up are psychopaths who want to murder. Anyone who would have joined now just become cops.
well if you just want to murder being a cop is just the objectively better option, higher pay, less danger there is no upside to the army in comparison
