I was going to assume it was some weird religious anti-abortion thing, but if that was the case then wouldn't the babies be more sympathetic and not scary murder-faced gremlins?

I had to look it up and while I won't spoil it I will note Shaun Hutson has 120 books credited on goodreads. As someone whose been working on a first draft for the better part of a decade I respect the mans work ethic even if his work is not to my taste
