Surely most people have an HD television regardless of its size and people are still happy to watch DVDs?
They're cheap and people may only have DVD players even if their telly is fancy.
I have 3 DVD drives and 1 dedicated DVD player. Meanwhile I have nothing that does BluRay.
Also, DVDs get really cheap.
I don't use a TV to watch them, but a laptop. A cheap laptop. That screen barely has colors, so the resolution isn't such a problem. The only movie where it bothered me was Martian. The text size made it unreadable on 576p.
Lastly, they are small (data-wise). This means I can just copy them as ISO files onto my phone.
