I had learned that - way back in ~2010 (2009?). And today - my bookmark notes reminded me of it. Starting in ~2008 I begin to listen to jazz all the time and take notes about it. And by ~ 2010 I realized it would be very helpful to date my notes. Sometimes they make me laugh. In 2010 I might have have said "This is cover is great!" And then when I listened again - say three months ago - I simply deleted the bookmark thinking to myself - "This performance is third rate at best. What was I smoking in 2010???"
My notes for Scrapple...
I love covers so sometimes I ended up bookmarking covers even if I didn't like (or hated) the original performance. A great example of a great cover and a terrible original is I Fought the Law. The Clash's cover is one of the best covers ever. But the original is awful. I couldn't believe how bad it was.
