Fox seemingly hated Futurama and loaded the creative team with production notes, so the creators opted for a bit of malicious compliance.

Chill. They used a word you didn't know, probably not worth taking it as a personally existential threat to the quality of writing everywhere eh?

It's common and OK to need to look up words.
