hand to god, i've never understood the appeal of hanging out. oh you just sit around, except now you have to keep a conversation going?
i remember once in 4th grade my parents forced me to call another kid and schedule a playdate. it was agonizing
with the right people the conversation just flows effortlessly and with others you just do activities together.
This. There are some coworkers I really can't just chat with. Then there ar some we just hit it off and we can chat for hours.

Have you tried to not repeat the same word over and over again?
When I used to hang out, we would watch movies or play video games. I mean, we'd chat, too, but it wasn't like a long conversation, usually.
