It does kind of make sense if you know Schultz was from Minnesota and Minnesotans call all little kids "peanut"

So, "Lil Folks" to "Peanuts" is a really logical choice and people from the upper Midwest might not even notice the difference!

Nah. It was a named forced on him that referenced the "peanut gallery" and he always kind of hated it. But eventually he felt like he had to stick with it.

Huh, I guess maybe Minnesotans calling kids "peanut" came from the comic strip, instead of the other easy around. TIL.
