It's from the BBC spy series MI-5 (aka Spooks).
Before the onscreen text the incidental music must have been intended to be "Middle Eastern" but to my ears it sounded Turkish.
I'm rewatching the series. I first watched it ~10 years ago when I was a liberal so I'm seeing it differently now. The text made me laugh. Imagine if the story was different and "The United States, 1993" had been on screen. Americans learning about it would have gotten really mad. "Which state!"
It's not the middle east unless it's in a bazaar and there's shady men selling wares.
The air must be yellow, but in a sickly pale tone, if it looks too warm the whiter viewers will confuse the location for Mexico.
