It's from the BBC spy series MI-5 (aka Spooks).

Before the onscreen text the incidental music must have been intended to be "Middle Eastern" but to my ears it sounded Turkish.

I'm rewatching the series. I first watched it ~10 years ago when I was a liberal so I'm seeing it differently now. The text made me laugh. Imagine if the story was different and "The United States, 1993" had been on screen. Americans learning about it would have gotten really mad. "Which state!"

I didn't understand the scene at all. It was very short and entirely unneeded. I guess the producers wanted it for "color".

Most of the scene was in a very large tent that included two 20 something attractive women who were whispering and smiling. Two British men are talking and one of them says "The sheik's guests are very well treated indeed." And there's another shot of the women.
